About Lesson

Adding Spring to Your Step
Have you ever felt like your feet were made of lead? It’s funny how our feet can feel both leaden and light at the same time. That’s because in order to experince spring we need first to feel the weight of gravity. Many of the exercises in this foot challenge so far, have helped us to ground to the earth and connect to the very solid feeling of being rooted. Today we will use the weight of gravity to help us ascend.

Try this:
  1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and slowly rise up onto the balls of your feet, lifting your heels as high as possible.
  2. Lower back down and drive your heels into the ground. Repeat 10 times. Hold on to a wall for support if you feel unbalanced
  3. You can vary this exercise by doing single-leg calf raises or adding weight for resistance.
Use your feet to rise up but don’t leave the earth behind! You can have your head in the clouds if you have your feet on the ground.
